Learn how to effectively write CAAs. Learning Objectives: By the end of the session, attendees will be able to: 1. Define Care Area Assessments (CAAs) 2. Describe three possible formats for writing nutrition-related CAAs 3. Describe the role of CAAs in Care Planning Megan Finnie, RDN, CSG, LD is the Chief Operations Officer for Dietary Consultants, Inc. (DCI). Megan continues to consult as a registered dietitian directly with health care facilities on a weekly basis, manages 50+ dietitians, and oversees all operations of DCI. In addition, Megan frequently presents and speaks on nutrition and health care topics at the company, local and national levels. Megan has worked as a consultant dietitian for long term care facilities, hospitals, and other transitional care facilities for over seven years. Prior to consulting, Megan worked in both foodservice and in nutrition research. Megan is a Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition, with a focus and passion for working with the long term care industry.
ARCHIVED: Managing the Delivery of Enteral Nutrition in Long Term
Event Date: June 14, 2017 The purpose of this webinar will be to review the basics of enteral nutrition (EN) while concentrating on evidence based guidelines for long term patient management. A review of topics such as nutrition assessment, proper gastric residual evaluation, diarrhea management and other signs of intolerance will be discussed as well as the steps for proper transitioning from enteral nutrition to an oral diet. A case based approach will be used to allow for good clinical application. At the conclusion of the webinar participants will be able to: 1. Recognize the indications and benefits of enteral nutrition 2. Review the parameters required for nutrition assessment for a patient receiving EN 3. Evaluate and manage complications related to EN delivery 4. Evaluate the steps needed to properly transition an EN patient to an oral diet Presenter: Jennifer Bridenbaugh MS RD CNSC currently holds a position of Assistant Professor at Rutgers University School of Health Professions. Her primary responsibility is with the distance BS Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program as Clinical Coordinator. Jennifer’s experiences have included a wide range of clinical exposure and nutrition support management. She completed her undergraduate work at Rutgers University and Dietetic Internship at Yale New Haven University Hospital. Her master’s degree was completed at UMDNJ-SHRP with her master’s thesis topic: Immediate Gastric Enteral Feeding in the Trauma Patient. The majority of her clinical skills were refined at UMDNJ-University Hospital in the Surgical/Trauma intensive care and then additional experiences at local teaching and community hospitals. She has been a certified nutrition support RDN for 20 years and is the current president of the NJ chapter of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (JASPEN).
