Managing the Delivery of Enteral Nutrition in Long Term
Event Date: June 14, 2017 The purpose of this webinar will be to review the basics of enteral nutrition (EN) while concentrating on evidence based guidelines for long term patient management. A review of topics such as nutrition assessment, proper gastric residual evaluation, diarrhea management and other signs of intolerance will be discussed as well as the steps for proper transitioning from enteral nutrition to an oral diet. A case based approach will be used to allow for good clinical application. At the conclusion of the webinar participants will be able to: 1. Recognize the indications and benefits of enteral nutrition 2. Review the parameters required for nutrition assessment for a patient receiving EN 3. Evaluate and manage complications related to EN delivery 4. Evaluate the steps needed to properly transition an EN patient to an oral diet Presenter: Jennifer Bridenbaugh MS RD CNSC currently holds a position of Assistant Professor at Rutgers University School of Health Professions. Her primary responsibility is with the distance BS Nutrition and Dietetics Coordinated Program as Clinical Coordinator. Jennifer’s experiences have included a wide range of clinical exposure and nutrition support management. She completed her undergraduate work at Rutgers University and Dietetic Internship at Yale New Haven University Hospital. Her master’s degree was completed at UMDNJ-SHRP with her master’s thesis topic: Immediate Gastric Enteral Feeding in the Trauma Patient. The majority of her clinical skills were refined at UMDNJ-University Hospital in the Surgical/Trauma intensive care and then additional experiences at local teaching and community hospitals. She has been a certified nutrition support RDN for 20 years and is the current president of the NJ chapter of the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (JASPEN).
